"... For example at Maumanorig, near Ventry, there is a carved boulder with a ogam inscription reading ANM COLMAN AILITHIR naming Colman the pilgrim. It also has an encircled Maltese cross with a long handle which may represent a flabellum, aliturgicalfan, a symbol of watchfulness. It probably dates to the 7th century."
